Redeemed: "To buy or payoff; clear by payment. To recover." And how expensive that sum. A death. Death of a Savior. A King. The most perfect human ever existed, killed for you and me.
i don't know about you, but i am completely unworthy of that kind of love, and feel blessed to have it. We can never replace or recreate that kind of love again. There is only one God. One Savior. This happened once. This will not happen again, never has to. You are redeemed!
i see so many people living their lives as if they aren't redeemed. And these are christians i am talking about. Head down, beaten down, as if they are wearing a "kick me" sign on their back. Where's the joy we speak of? Why is it the redeemed look just like the unbelievers? Where's the difference?
What words do you speak? When someone asks you "how's it going?" How do you respond? With gladness that comes from the Lord or a woe is me story? That's not to say we don't struggle. We all do, but if we believe what we preach we are to rely on God's strength not our own. Sharing our hearts trouble is one thing, but complaining about everything is another.
i noticed this symptom in myself recently. Whenever my husband would ask me how's my day, i would immediatly tell him something negative about it. For example; "i'm so tired" "i just can't get all this housework done" "our oldest was so sassy this morning." Now, that's not to say these things didn't happen, but what about how my oldest came to the aide of my youngest when he fell and got hurt, or getting to the gym for a great class, or my youngest memorizing his first memory verse for school. Why was the negitive on the tip of my tongue, where i had to search for the positive?
Then i read this verse Psalm 78:42 "They did not remember His power - the day He redeemed them from their oppressor." i believe this verse is applies to us daily. Humans aren't all that different today than in biblical times.
We have to work to stay positive, negitivity surrounds us, and it is so easy to get stuck in that trap. But just as we are the same, so is our Lord. Psalm 78:38-39 "Yet He was merciful: he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time He restrained His anger and did not stir up His full wrath. He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return."
We are loved. We are free. We are Redeemed!
