Some of the things i found concerning, (and there were many) was allot of their quotes. They used allot of "we", "i", and "us". Here are some of the quotes. . . . . . ""We" ran and built a successful church with a huge congregation." (Where does it say that a large congregation equals successful?) ""We gave up everything "we" built." (Aren't we to give God the credit?) "What if no one wants to follow "us"?" (Follow you? We are to follow God, not man.) The next quote made my stomach turn. "Sex and tattoos even in the church."
Now don't get me wrong, i have tattoos, and i love them. i also have 2 children so we know what that means. But she proceeded to preach about how God made viagra to help keep your love alive. Really?! To me that is way beyond pulpit talk. And keeping your love alive isn't only about sex! The sad part about this, is people are so hungry to hear that what they are doing is right, and to belong somewhere, that allot of these churches do succeed leading many astray.
1 John 4:1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."
How do we "test" spirits? How do we know what to believe? Simple. Read the Word of God. There's no secret plan. Just read.
i heard a sermon once. The pastor said, "don't take my word for it just because i'm the one behind the pulpit. Know your bible for then you can decipher what is right." if you are in the Word and know your bible, you will know when a teaching doesn't seem to aline with God's teachings.
i feel so compiled to write this, because we need to guard are hearts. They are so precious. Mathew 7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."
