if i was a betting person i would guess that we are probably most impatient with God. "Why didn't you answer me God?" "Hurrry up God?" "Can't you hear me?" How many times did we see in the bible where people had to have patience, but after a little while gave up, and did it on their own. Did that ever work out for them?
Perfect example, Sarah and Abraham. God sent three visitors to tell Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son. (Genesis 18;11 "Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.") if you continue to read a few chapters on, Sarah gave up her patience, and thats when the story gets sticky. But Sarah did have a son in due time. (Genesis 18:14 is anything too hard for the Lord.")
This story holds a special spot in my heart because i waited 4 years for my second son. And trust me i was not the poster child of patience! Anything but! i wallowed in self pity constantly. Finally i grabbed onto the Lord, and said let your will, not my will be done. And then there came my little fireball Garrett.
i can't say i know why i had to wait for Garrett, but i did. if you know him you will agree he was worth the wait.
"Be loving, patient, and kind." This is been my mommy mantra, as i call it. And let me tell you having a child with A.D.H.D. i say it often.
My prayer, (and i do pray for you all, daily). is that you can learn from my mistakes. i hope you can lean on Christ for your patience. He can see the future, so we may not see the reason, but he does.
Collosians 3:12 Therefore, as God's, chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentelness, and patience.
