Now, how can we take our talents and make them a gift? This is extremely easy when you add God to the equation.
First off, if you do not know in where your talents lie, pray. Pray, pray, pray! Ask God what gift, or talent he has given you to use. Trust me, you will get an answer. it may not be the answer you thought either, and remember, God has a great sense of humor.
1 Corinthians 12:4 "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them." i know in my heart of hearts that God can use anything you are willing to give to Him.
i decided about a year ago that i would give God all my talents. And i mean ALL! Not sure i completely understood this promise at the time, but God has blessed me more than i could have ever expected in the process.
i have always been creative. i love creating, and i'm always looking for new interests to perk my curiosity. So, after my promise i felt lead to get into writing. i had written poetry when i was a teenager, but hadn't picked up a pen in years. So, i prayed. "God, what do you want me to write about?" No more did the prayer end and my notebook was almost full. Wow, i didn't know i had all those thoughts till i put them down. Then i felt the Lord speak to my heart that i was to start a blog. "What?!" i stopped in my tracks. A blog? i wasn't even sure what that was.
Now, as we all know, writing in a journal is therapeutic. But if you had to publish those words on the internet, never to be erased, how would you feel? Oh, and don't forget add the topic of Jesus and religion! Needless to say i was pretty sure God had the wrong person for the job. i am a very sensitive person, and can get my heart hurt easily. What if people attacked me for my views?
Well, lets just say, God is never wrong. And one thing he told me, was keep Him first. So, before i write, i pray. i do not just start writing about what i want, but what i feel God wants me to write. it is important for me to keep Him first in all i do. is this to say i get it right 100% of the time? That my feelings have never been hurt? Of coarse not, but with hurt feelings comes the peace God gives me. The strength to continue even when the road is hard.
May this post encourage you to use your gifts for Christ. it may not be easy, but there is always a bigger better plan we cannot see. Please, i encourage you to write below in the comments your gift, and how you can, or are using them for Christ! As always many blessings sent your way, and a bit of courage too!
